About UsHire Wear 2024
Three generations, Serving Bristol since 1976.
The Cotham Hill shop has been trading as a family business since the early 1980’s, when the shop was relocated from Princess Victoria Street in Clifton.
When Frocks & Tails closed in 2013, following her Mum’s retirement, Jayne had something of a homecoming by returning to the shop and opening her third branch of Men’s Hire.
Owner Jayne has over thirty years experience working in the high-end clothing retail industry, both here and abroad. A large chunk of that was working in the family business; learning the art of measuring, sewing, and the detail involved in running a successful wedding hire service.
After leaving the shop following the birth of her son William in 2002 and daughter Caitlin in 2005. She started the Men’s Hire brand working around her young family from her home in Thornbury, offering an appointment-only hire service to couples for their weddings. The business proved incredibly successful, and within a few years, the brand had expanded to incorporate another home service branch in Nailsea and won multiple awards for its service. Following the move from Thornbury to the Bristol shop, Jayne was able to further grow the business to include an instant hire department – offering Walk-in suit hire as well as suits to buy off-the-peg and Made to Measure. In 2018, she introduced a kilt making service, as well as a range of shirts, shoes & accessories to buy.
With the business now offering so much more than just wedding hire wear, a name change was long overdue. Therefore in early 2019, and to coincide with a new website, the business re-launched under the new brand of Jayne’s maiden name; Haig-Harrison’s. Following the 2020 pandemic, her son Will decided to take a gap year from his studies to train and work alongside his mum, Jayne, at the shop. In late 2021 they celebrated their 45th year of trading with a multi generational photo shoot.
In June 2022 Viktoriia joined the team offering an in-store alterations service. Annabel took over in October when William left for university. William still works during the holidays. And finally in late 2022 Caitlin (Jayne’s daughter) took over the role of co-ordinating deliveries and supporting Annabel and Jayne in the shop on Saturdays.
